Clinical Compass Steps Up in Wake of George Floyd Death

By Editorial Staff

The Clinical Compass / Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters (CCGPP) has released an Anti-Racism and Solidarity Statement in the wake of social unrest, demonstrations and calls for change following the death of George Floyd.

The statement, which includes three specific actions the organization is taking immediately to promote better inclusion and diversity, reads in its entirety as follows:

The Clinical Compass is standing in solidarity with the American Black Chiropractic Association (ABCA), peaceful protesters, and our global community, as we work to end racism and health disparity.

Diversity is critical to the chiropractic profession's ability to maximize positive impact, specifically, for Black communities. Diversity propels innovation and collective success. Making diversity a priority, we commit to making necessary changes within our organization to facilitate equality, opportunity, and justice for all persons. The magnitude of the moment additionally calls us to collaborate to address the unique disparities faced by Black Americans.

  1. Immediately add an ABCA member to the Clinical Compass Board of Directors as an Ex-Officio Director.
  2. Create opportunities for the ABCA student and doctor members to participate in the Clinical Compass research process.
  3. Incorporate relevant images of diversity in our information dissemination tools to improve public health.

Research informs how we understand and experience the world. We commit to transforming our world through collaboration with Black communities. We must end racism, and health disparities, to ensure justice and a brighter and healthier future for all.
