Dear MPA,
I have 4 clients who advertise in DC Practice Insights. Every single one has maintained their advertising or has already renewed their program for another year. Plus, I have two more clients eying to begin an ad program in the near future.
I have been in magazine publishing for longer than I care to admit. And for a new publication to be as successful as DCPI has been is nearly unheard of. Typically, a magazine can expect to be in the red for the first three or five years. Even in this tough economic and print publishing
environment, the worst I have ever seen, DCPI has managed to operate in the black right out of the gates.
Eventually, a magazine's readership determines its worth; if the content isn't valued, it won't be read, and ads won't be seen, period. Nothing can overcome poor content. MPA did a thorough level of research to determine what the doctors of chiropractic wanted in a magazine and continues to. The outcome is a valuable magazine with articles that doctors want to read. As MPA continues to publish quality content, the readership of DCPI will only continue to improve.
Magazine publishing is hyper competitive now; more intense than I have ever witnessed. And every magazine is pitching more intensely than ever, with each firm having a story that "sounds" good in a vacuum without any "cross examination," if you will. Every magazine out there has advertisers who will swear by its results; every magazine out there has companies who will say "it didn't work." I suggest you take input from all sources rather than taking "one side" of the story. It's not as simple or as easy as black and white, but like the "X Files" program used to tell us, "The truth is out there."
